| Lashkar to recruit literate boys in Doda, Poonch and Rajouri | | | Jammu,July 19 :- The dreaded Lashkar-i-Toiba has drastically changed its training and recruitment policy in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources said here today that in Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah and some pockets of Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri the field commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba have started recruiting literate boys. Atleast those boys were being recruited in the Lashkar cadre who have passed either Matriculation or 10 plus two examination. The sources said that the idea behind recruiting literate boys was that they could handle the weapons and explosives and use cell phones and wireless sets far better than the illiterate boys. The Lashkar commanders have also realized that in case the fresh recruits were to be imparted arms training across the border the literate ones could understand the language used in Pakistan or occupied Kashmir and they could converse with their trainers. Another change ,sources said, was the field commanders have preferred to impart arms training in local camps in Doda district.Sources said that during the last one year the number of foreign mercenaries, most of them associated with Lashkar-i-Toiba,had swelled in Doda, Poonch and Rajouri districts. The sources said a year ago six to seven foreign mercenaries had been identified in Doda district and their number has gone upto over 60.About unidentified mercenaries the police and security sleuths have been on the job of making a preliminary survey but one thing is there that the number of them has gone up.The Lashkar leadership in the Jammu region plan to go in for major recruitment drive so that its rival Hizbul Mujahideen was not able to rope in local boys whose involvement in the ongoing activists was important
