| SVO produces challan against revenue official | | Was caught in November accepting bribe | |
JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organization produced Challan before the Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu against Kanshi Ram the then Girdawar, Revenue Department, Noushera, who was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 1000 on November 7 last. According to a communiqué from vigilance office, on November 7 last a written complaint was lodged by Kripal Singh son of Gian Singh and resident of Dabbar Potha Tehsil Naushera District Rajouri, wherein it was alleged that complainant had approached Naib Tehsildar Naushera for issuance of OBC certificates in favour of his sons. The Naib Tehsildar, Naushera endorsed his application to the Girdawar, Sh Kanshi Ram for processing and report. The said Girdawar demanded a bribe of Rs 2500 for processing the case. The complainant paid Rs 1500 as bribe in advance to the accused and rest of the bribe money was settled to be paid after the issuance of OBC certificates.
Case FIR No 26/2006 u/s 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 r/w section 161 RPC was registered in P/S Vigilance Organization Jammu and in the course of investigation a trap was laid. The accused Girdawar was caught red handed while accepting Rs 1000/- as bribe form the complainant. The bribe money was recovered in presence of independent witnesses. The accused official was taken into custody and was later released on bail under court orders, who is presently under suspension. The next date of hearing has been fixed on 16th of August 2007.
