| Defence Ministry awaits report on Megha Razdan | | | ET REPORTER Jammu, July 19: As no clue emerges even three weeks after the mysterious death of a woman Army officer in a camp on the outskirts of Jammu city, the Defence Ministry is keenly awaiting response from the Jammu and Kashmir government. The inquiry into the alleged suicide of woman army officer, Captain Megha Razdan, earlier this month was handed over to Jammu and Kashmir government to get the circumstances probed by the Police. On the fringes of a seminar in New Delhi, Defence Minister AK Antony told media persons that the state government has been asked to probe the matter. "We have asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to speed up their independent inquiry into Captain Razdan's death", Antony said. Captain Razdan, 26, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling with a bed sheet in her official residence at Kunjawani near Jammu July 1. The minister said the officer's family does not share the belief that she committed suicide. Saying he shared the family's grief, Antony said: "The parents of Captain Razdan have met me and they don't think their daughter committed suicide." The government, meanwhile, has also called upon the army to speed up its own inquiry into the officer's death.
