Krimchi to be developed as heritage destination

UDHAMPUR, JULY 20 (INFO)- To chalk out modalities for the development of historic Krimchi township as heritage tourism destination situated at a distance of about 12 kms North of Udhampur town on Udhampur- Panchari road, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria accompanied by a team of senior officers of different departments today visited the village.
The Superintending Engineer, PHE, Udhampur, Mr. Verinder Badyal, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mr. R.C. Puri, Chief Agriculture Officer, Mr. Kuldeesh Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer, Mr. J.L. Raina, Executive Engineer, PHE, Mr. N.K. Rohmetra and senior officers of Education, Health, PWD were present on the occasion.
The DDC accompanied by officers visited legendry Krimchi Fort situated on a hillock in the heart of Krimchi and discussed various ways and means to preserve the pristine glory of the fort. The DDC asked the Assistant Commissioner, Development to construct the remaining stairs leading to fort for public convenience. To beautify the existing garden in the fort, the DDC said that Floriculture Department would be approached for plantation of more flowers and upkeep of the garden.
Responding to the public demand for construction of link road measuring over 700 meters from main road to ancient Pandava temples of Krimchi, Mr. Kalandria said that project of the link road has already been prepared and submitted to the Government and added that sincere efforts would be made to construct this road under State sector.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the site is most appropriate as far as heritage tourism is concerned. The group of temples situated at Krimchi has been preserved as monument of national importance and presently managed by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). With the construction of link road, inflow of visitors was likely to swell, thereby transforming the economy of the inhabitants of the area, the DDC maintained.
