| Amitabh Mattoo leaves for Colombo to attend PUGWASH conference | | | Jammu,July 20 Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, today left for Delhi for visiting Colombo in connection with the PUGWASH conference where he has been invited. Prof. Mattoo receives invitations from various international organizations and NGOs for attending conferences which they organize because the Jammu Vice-chancellor is well versed in international affairs. The APHC Chairman,Molvi Umar Farooq,too will be attending the PUGWASH conference.He was scheduled to leave Srinagar for Colombo but being preoccupied in organizational activities in Gulmarg he has postponed his visit by a day or two. However, Shabir Ahmed Shah,Chief of Democratic Freedom Party,could not make it to Colombo because of lack of passport.Mr Shah said today that he had been invited to the conference but he could not go because the Government of India had not issued valid travel documents. In reply to a question he said that he had applied for the passport several times during the last five years but on one pretext or the other the passport was not issued with the result “I could not attend a number of conferences in Pakistan and the USA.”
