| Ahead of LAHDC polls, Congress leaders resign in Leh, write to Sonia | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: Ahead of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections scheduled to be held on October 17, Congress leaders resigned en masse from the party in a letter addressed to AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Alleging dictatorial style of functioning, the office bearers of District Congress Committee (DCC), Leh yesterday submitted their resignations from the respective posts to Gandhi. In a letter shot off to the AICC president, the office bearers alleged total lack of internal democracy in the party and dictatorial style of functioning of the day-to-day affairs of the party at District Headquarters, Leh, party sources here today said, adding that they also alleged sidelining the Constitution of Indian National Congress at all levels. The office bearers in a letter further alleged use and throw attitude towards them, party workers and supporters by the so- called local high command of DCC, Leh. Non-inclusion of office bearers, executives and central working committee members in important decision making meetings especially in distribution of mandate for the Fifth LAHDC elections were among the issues raised by them in a letter, they said. However, accusing the DCC Leh, the office bearers said, the District Congress Committee has not conducted even a single Central Working Committee meeting prior to the commencement of elections. "Those who had resigned, are already expelled for their anti-party activities," G A Mir, president Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee here told. Mir said that only to gain mileage and to get limelight, the expelled members raised the issue of resigning and wrote to the Congress president. The Congress stalwart however, said there will be no effect on LAHDC polls but Congress party will emerge as victorious this time too as the party is gaining momentum with polls coming nearer.
