| Forest employee arrested for timber smuggling | | Finished wood worth Rs 1. 4 lakh seized | |
Srinagar July 21: Police today claimed to have arrested a forest employee when he was trying to sell out 50 deodar clefts in the black market. Official sources said that continuing its crackdown against forest smugglers police acting on a tip off dispatched a team led by Inspector Ab. Rashid SHO Police Station Vilgam. The team recovered 50 slippers of illicit timber (Deodar) from Zaffar Khan forests, which was illegally being smuggled by one Forest Employee Gh. Mohammed Khan, son of Gh. Rasool Khan, resident of Kakroosa for sale purposes. The approximate cost of the timber in the market was assessed to be is about Rs 1, 40,000/- . The accused fled away from the spot and his search is going on. In this connection immediate cognizance under relevant rules has been taken, case registered in Police Station Vilgam under FIR No. 73/07, under section 379-RPC, 6-F – Act and investigation has been taken up. |
