At least 16 people, most of the sadhus, have been injured today in the second grenade attack in series on the Amarnath yatries. Terrorists hurled a grenade at a community kitchen in Pahalgam. Three of the injured are reported to be critical. The ultras hurled a grenade towards a `langar` at a gurudwara near police station Pahalgam, 100 km from here in Anantnag district of South Kashmir at around 1:10 pm, officials said. The grenade exploded inside the langar area where pilgrims had gathered for their lunch resulting in injuries to eight sadhus, a pilgrim and a driver of State Road Transport Corporation, they said. One pilgrim was killed and several injured in a militant attack on Baltal base camp on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has strongly condemned the grenade attack at Pahalgam today in which at least 10 yatris sustained injuries. The Chief Minister described the incident as highly atrocious, saying it only brought disrepute to Kashmir and its people. He said the yatris being on a religious pilgrimage were the honoured guests in the Valley and whoever attacked them had done so against his religion and the traditions and ethos of the land. Azad said incidents like these could not weaken the resolve of the government and the people of Kashmir to bring back normalcy and peace. In fact, such incidents only further strengthen this resolve, he said. The Chief Minister enquired about the injured persons and directed the health department authorities to provide them best of the treatment. He prayed for their early recovery.
