| 15 injured in Pahalgam grenade attack | | | Srinagar: In the second such attack on Amarnath pilgrims in a week, militants today hurled a grenade on the devouts when they had gathered to have lunch at Pahalgam on way to the cave shrine, injuring 15 of them. The grenade was lobbed at a community kitchen inside a Gurdwara near Pahalgam police station, 100 kms from here at around 1 pm, official sources said. Eight sadhus were among the injured faithfuls, they said. Panic gripped the hill resort and people including tourists started running for cover soon after the grenade attack, the sources said. The sources added the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and nine of them were discharged after the first aid. Rest of the injured were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment. Police assisted by paramilitary forces immediately cordoned off the area and a massive hunt has launched to nab the militants involved in the attack, the sources said. This was the second attack on pilgrims in the valley since the commencement of the Amarnath yatra on July 1. Militants on July 17 hurled a grenade near the main gate of the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district killing a shopkeeper and injuring 17 others including a pilgrim.
