| 6 absconding timber Smugglers arrested | | | Srinagar July 22: Police on Sunday claimed that it has arrested six most wanted, notorious, timber smugglers involved in attacking a police party few days back at Kunzar in North Kashmir about 25 kilometres from here . Police sources said that the six smugglers were absconding since June 20 when they managed to flee during a nocturnal raid. Police claimed that a large quantity of illicit timber was seized during the raid. Police had lodged a case FIRNo: 48/2007, Under Section 379 RPC, 353 RPC and 6 Forest Act against the timber smugglers in this regard and a manhunt was launched to nab them. Today, Police on a specific information conducted a successful raid and arrested all the accused timber smugglers from Zandabal area of Kunzar. They have been identfied as Abdul Rashi Khan son of Mohi-ud-Din Khan and Fayaz Ahmed Khan son of Ghuam Mohi-ud-Din, residents of of Zandabal, Shabir Khan, son of Hamid Khan, Javed Dar son of o Abdul Salam Dar, Mohammed Latief Bhat son of Akbar Bhat and Mohammed Ashraf Bhat son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, all residents of Ganiwani Tangmarg.
