| School building inaugurated | | |
Jammu, 23 July
A school building for Government Primary School, Fattukotli at village Garkhal in Akhnoor Tehsil was inaugurated by Major General AK Malik, VSM, General Officer Commanding Crossed Sword Division on 23 July 2007. The building has been constructed by Army Gorkha Regiment under ‘Operation Sadbhavana. On this momentous occasion Brigadier BS Chauhan, SM, Colonel Pravin Kumar, Honorary Secretary Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Sarpanches of the area, teachers and school children of Government Primary School Fattukotli were present.
The General while addressing the gathering said that the situation in the area is calm and peaceful with a collective effort of ‘JAWAN and AWAM’. He further added that the construction of the school is a step to uplift the Gujjar community and provide better educational infrastructure for their brighter future. He intimated the local population that the Army will continue to do more such projects to meet the aspirations of the local population. The occasion was also marked by presentation of a wheelchair to a handicapped person and presentation of blankets and utensils sponsored by the Red Cross Society of India. Health check up by male and lady medical officers of the Army and eye specialist of the Red Cross Society, Jammu Region was also organised.
