| Gadigarh residents flay government apathy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 22 A meeting of prominent residents of Gadigarh under the chairmanship of Master Jagbir Singh was held to draw for attention of the government towards problems of the inhabitants of Gadigarh. In the meeting the speakers strongly criticized the apathetic attitude of the government for neglecting the lower Gadigarh basti so far its development is concerned. The occupants of the said basti basically the refugees of 1947 have never tasted the fruits of Independence and are still living a miserable life. The residents alleged that despite release of huge funds by the central government for the development of hitherto neglected area not even a single penny has been spent in the area which is part of the Gandhi Nagar constituency. The area sans the basic facilities of roads and erratic drinking water supply and frequent power cuts has made the life of the people more miserable, the inhabitants alleged. Expressing their resentment against the government’s callous attitude the residents have threatened to resort to protests and demonstrations to press its demands. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Avatar Singh, General Secretary Bharat Bhushan (BJP), Sham Lal, Dhanraj Sudan and Mohinder Singh.
