| Degree College RS Pura lacks facilities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER R.S.Pura | July 23 The Degree College opened in RS Pura some two years back lacks all the basic facilities, like infrastructure, lecturers and also the laboratory facility. The college is currently running from the existing higher secondary school causing enormous problems for the students. According to reports last year 161 students got admitted in the first year. The college has only two rooms for these students. Similarly, this year 250 students have been admitted in first year this year but regrettably there is no space to adjust these students. The work on the construction of the college building taken up soon after the opening of the Degree College here is going on snails’ pace and if the present status of this prestigious college complex is any guide it may take years together to get it completed. Apart from accommodation problem, the college is also facing acute shortage of the teaching staff. Though eight subjects including English, Applied Mathematics, Education, Computer Application, Economics, Political science, Hindi and Sanskrit streams are taught in the college but surprisingly only three professors for teaching subjects like English, Applied Mathematics and Education have been posted in the college leaving other subjects unattended. Principal of the College, Nalini Kohli admitted shortage of space and also the teaching staff and said that non absence of both were great impediments in carrying out the functioning of the college and to meet the demands of the students. She said only two rooms were at the disposal of the college last year making it difficult to run all the classes. To meet the additional requirements of the accommodation in view of higher number of admission this year the college authorities are planning to acquire two more rooms in the existing Higher Secondary School to run the classes.
