| G M Jan’s death widely mourned | | | Srinagar July 23: Cutting across party lines, several political parties and their leaders have expressed shock and grief over the sad demise of Ghulam Mohammed Jan MLA Poonch who passed away here today after a brief illness. Patron J&K National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President Omar Abdullah and General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed in a joint statement have expressed shock and grief over the sad demise of Ghulam Mohammad Jan, MLA Poonch. They expressed their heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed to almighty God to grant peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family to bear this ir-repairable loss. In a joint statement National Conference leaders have expressed shock and grief over the sad and untimely demise of Ghulam Mohammad Jan, MLA Poonch who breathed his last today at Jammu after a brief illness. National Conference leaders have conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. Ghulam Mohammad Jan was survived by his wife, two son and one daughter. His burial (Janaza) shall be take place on Tuesday July 24, 2007 at Poonch at 2 p.m. Signatories to the statement were Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President, Rattan Lal Gupta, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLA, Kr. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and the party President Ms Mehbooba Mufti have also expressed shock and grief over the demise of G M Jan, MLA Poonch Haveli. In a statement issued here today the PDP leaders have hailed the contribution of late Jan towards the upliftment of the people of his area. They said his contribution in the political, social and economic emancipation of the people of Poonch area would be remembered for long. They said his death is a great loss to the political arena of the State. Senior PDP leaders Ghulam Hassan Mir, Tariq Hamid Qarra and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain have also condoled the demise of G M Jan. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, the PDP leaders prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Prof Bhim Singh Chairman JKNPP while expressing shock over the unfortunate and sad demise of Jan has said that in his death people of Poonch have lost a great son of the soil and the people of the state a great and noble leader. Pradesh Congress Committee has also expressed shock over the untimely death of Jan. PCC President and Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammed Sayed in his condolence message from Srinagar has expressed deep grief and shock over the demise of Jan and described him a humble person and a personal friend. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. PCC Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, senior leaders of Poonch district, Ashok Sharma, MLC, Yash Paul Sharma, Ch Zaffarullah, Gaurdev Singh, Ch .Mohammed Younis, Jahangir Mir, Mohammed Zaman and Imran Zaffer have also expressed their deep shock over to the death of Jan. Ch. Mohammed Aslam MP Rajya Sabha in his message from Delhi have condoled the death of Jan and conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. Madan Lal Sharma, MP has expressed grief and shock over the demise of Jan and conveyed his personal condolences to the bereaved family. Expressing shock over the death of MLA Poonch, Ashok Sharma General Secretary PCC recalled the qualities of head and heart of late Jan and said his contribution in socio economic development of people of the state in general and Poonch district in particular is admirable. R S Chib senior congress leader and MLC expressing grief and shock over the sad demise of Jan said that he was a thorough gentleman and dedicated his whole life in the service of poor, down trodden and backward sections of the society in general and people of Poonch in particular. Chib said that that in his, he has lost a good friend. Chairman and members of the State Pahari Advisory Board have expressed its deep shock over the untimely demise of G M Jan. In a joint statement Vice Chairman of the Board Shabir Ahmed Khan, Th.Puran Singh, MLA and state convenor of J&K Pahari cultural and welfare forum and all members of the Pahari Advisory Board while expressing shock over the death recalled the services of late Jan to the society as MLA and member of the Pahari Board. His contribution to the cause of down trodden and Pahari people shall be remembered for long, the statement added.
