| Ex-militant turned looter held through mobile-tracing | | | Srinagar, July 24: Police today claimed to have arrested a former Hizb militant involved in forced extortion by tracing his mobile calls. Some arms and ammunition have also been recovered from his possession. The former militant was involved in extorting money from the people on gun point in Khansahib area of Budgam district. Police said that it was receiving frequent complaints about a man harassing and extorting money on gunpoint in some areas of Khansahib, following which a manhunt was launched to nab the culprit and investigations taken up. During the investigations, police came to know that the extortionist had snatched a mobile phone from a person and was using it for making calls. Police said that they put the mobile on surveillance and traced the calls reaching to culprit leading them to arrest him from Kachwari Jungles in Khansahib area early this morning. . Identifying the extortionist as Ghulam Qadir sheikh, of Asadullah Shiekh of Kachwari Khansahib , sources told KMT that the arrested person was a released HM militant and one AK-47 Rifle, three magazines and 23 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.
