| Interaction session held | | | UDHAMPUR, JULY 24 To promote cocoon production in the district, the Sericulture Development Department in collaboration with Regional Sericulture Research Station Miran-Sahib, Jammu and National Silkworm Seed Organization Central Silk Board (GOI) organized a one-day workshop at Sericulture Complex, Udhampur yesterday where a large number of silk rearers and field staff participated. Addressing the workshop, the Additional Director Sericulture, Mr. A.K. Misri said that there was great potential to harvest more than 50 Kilograms of cocoons per ozs of seed in comparison to existing average of 35 Kgs per ozs. With increase in cocoon production the economy of farmers who rear silkworm would get a boost and more farmers would be prompted to this subsidiary occupation. Scientists affiliated with the job of silk rearing gave detailed lectures on silkworm disease management and methods of disinfecting of rearing equipment, rearing space and houses etc. A healthy conversation between scientists, field staff and farmers took place in the workshop where the scientists gave replies of queries to their entire satisfaction. Sericulture Development Officer, Udhampur presented vote of thanks.
