| Jora seeks 25 p c more power from centre | | | JAMMU, JULY 24 Minister for Power. Nawang Rigzin Jora called on Union Power Minister. Sushil Kumar Shinde at New Delhi today and urged for speedy clearance of various power projects submitted by the state government to the centre. The minister apprised Shinde about the implementation centrally sponsored schemes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameem Vidytikaran Yojna and APDRP. Mr. Jora sought early release of funds for APDRP projects in Leh and Kargil districts in view of the limited working season and the critical needs of the area. The Minister also brought into the notice of Mr. Shainde the 14 projects submitted by the state government under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidytikaran Yojna, and said “only 4 projects have so far been sanctioned while 6 have been sanctioned in principle and sanction is awaited in respect of 4 projects”. The Minister urged for continuation of the past practice of allocating 25% of the unallocated power quota available with the Union Power Ministry to J&K from October 1 to help the state being out of the power shortage during winter months. The Union Power Minister assured Mr. Jora that he would look into these issues so that the state does not face any problems in future.
