| Selection, appointment of Research Assistant Dogri challenged | | HC directs to maintain status-quo | |
JAMMU, JULY 24- Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu wing, in a petition filed by Neelam Kumari Verma challenging the selection/appointment of four Research Assistants Dogri in the J&K Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages, issued notice to state of J&K through Chief Secretary, Secretary Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages, Additional Secretaries of Academy Jammu, Srinagar, experts and private respondents. Justice Nirmal Singh, after hearing Sr. Adv DC Raina appearing for the petitioner, directed the parties to maintain status-quo as it exists today. According to the petition, the Academy in its advertisement issued on December 23, 2006 had invited applications for the posts of Research Assistant Dogri in the pay scale of Rs.6500-10500 and the petitioner claims that she being eligible for the post as having M A. M.Phill in Dogri, submitted research papers published in the newspapers pertaining to a typical Dogri words and the post of Research Assistant Dogri is editorial cadre post. The petitioner leveled allegations that the expert submitted that she expert is in the field of prose writing in Dogri language and so far as the editorial cadre of research assistant Dogri is concerned the same pertains to Dictionary project Dogri and is not at all the field of said expert. The petitioner said that the field expertise by the said expert is totally different from the nature of post and reference. The petitioner prayed before the Court for quashing the recommendation of the selection committee with regard to appointment of four private respondents and also seeking direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner against the post of research assistant Dogri
