Kathua | July 24 Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua JP Singh allegedly beat a police cop when he was charging ‘entry’ (bribe) from truck drivers on a naka at Golden Gate Lakhanpur today. According to sources today early morning SSP in mufti visited Golden Gate naka where he caught red handed a policeman taking ‘entry’ from the vehicles coming from Punjab and ordered immediate shifting of alleged accused Sanjay Kumar posted at Lakhanpur police station apart from removing the naka on the road. Sources said the said that pending investigation in the case, the SSP has placed the accused under suspension and took up the investigation himself .Sources said when JP Singh took over the charge of SSP Kathua he had ordered removal of naka from Basholi Morh falling under the jurisdiction of Police station Lakhanpur. Sources revealed that for the last about a fortnight the SSP had been receiving complaints that some police personnel on nake duty in Lakhanpur area were charging ‘entry’, illegal gratification from the vehicles passing through Lakhanpur and made a surprise visit to the area and caught the cop red handed while accepting the money. It may be recalled that some days back traffic cops posted in the Lakhanpur area clashed with each other over the ‘booty’ and following this clash the senior officers had ordered removal of traffic nake from the area. As thousands of vehicles pass through Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, the senior police officers had been receiving complaints that the cops were charging ‘entry’ from the vehicles entering into the state, the sources added...
