| Azad attends Pratibha’s swearing in | | |
New Delhi, July 25- Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was present when history was made here with the first woman, Mrs Pratibha Patil sworn in as the 13th President of the Republic. Azad, who flew in from Srinagar in the morning to attended the colourful ceremony, congratulated Mrs. Patil after she was administered oath of office by Chief Justice of India. The Chief Minister extended pleasantries with the First Citizen of the country and wished her best of luck. Earlier, Azad had described the election of Mrs. Patil as President of the country as an epoch making development and a shining instance of women empowerment in India. The Chief Minister was instrumental in bringing about consensus among various political parties of the State on vote for Mrs. Patil in the Presidential poll held on July 19th. Percentage wise she polled the highest number of votes from Jammu & Kashmir. In the evening, the Chief Minister returned to Srinagar
