| Babu Singh highlights role of sports in personality development | | |
Srinagar, July 25
Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Babu Singh has highlighted the role of sports in mobilizing youth in the mainstream saying that spirit of sports transform grey shades of personality into productivity and create a sense of harmony and sanguinity among them.
The Minister was speaking at a function at Hakura-Badsgam, about 70 kms from here. MLA Dooru Mr. G. A. Mir along with officers representing various department’s, students and general people attended the function. On the occasion Mr. Singh and Mr. Mir distributed about 50 sports kits to various sports clubs from the area.
Earlier, Mr. Babu Singh inaugurated School complex recently upgraded to higher secondary level. He stressed student community to leave no stone unturned to seek education in every contemporary discipline of knowledge. He also hailed the efforts of local people for extending full cooperation to the government for being a part of every developmental process including creation of educational infrastructure. “Azad-led government has magnanimously allocated funds for education for construction and renovation of school buildings and providing laboratory and computer equipments wherever”, he said and added that sports sector was also receiving focus of attention at all levels.
The Minister alongwith Mr. Mir also paid obeisance at the shrine of local Sufi poet late Asad Mir on his birth anniversary. He said that the souls of such pious people have always illuminated the intellectual and spiritual acumen of the people of the state.
While responding to various demands putforth by people of the area Mr. Singh gave on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for immediate redressal of their grievances.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes among winners of Inter State Soft Ball Cricket Tournament which was played at district Stadium Anantnag
