| Jora takes up fund flow, supply of heavy transformers with Union ministers | | |
New Delhi, July 25 – Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora called on Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Vilas Muttemwar and discussed the power development scenario in the state. He requested for more funds under Power sector to the state by the Central government and pleaded or placing Jammu and Kashmir in the category of Northeastern states, as was the earlier practice and increasing financial assistance to the level of 90% of central funding. Mr. Jora discussed with the Union Minister the pace and execution of power projects taken up with the assistance of the Ministry for New & Renewable Energy in Jammu and Kashmir. He sought early release of funds for these projects and sanctioning of the projects submitted for the same. The Minister also met Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Mr. Santosh Mohan Dev and impressed upon him to direct Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) to clear the backlog of supply of 160 MVA make transformers for the transformer bank to J&K. He stressed upon the Minister the need for keeping the delivery deadline in view of the heavy load on transformers and the need for their frequent repairs in the state. Mr. Jora also took up the commissioning of Baran Grid Station with the Minister and asked to expedite the delivery of heavy machinery at the earliest for which orders have already been placed with the BHEL. The Minister also brought into the notice of Mr. Dev the need for replacement and upgradation of the damaged unit of the Gladni Grid Station at Jammu. Both the Union Ministers assured Mr. Jora that they would take appropriate steps on the issues raised by him.
