| Dilawar urges West Bengal Tour Operators, media to act brand ambassadors of Kashmir Tourism | | |
Srinagar, July 25 Government is show casing its hitherto unknown and virgin tourist places to the outside world in a big way. In the first instance, a leading representative group of the Travel, Trade, print and electronic media from West Bengal which arrived here today, would be taken to Gurez and Doodpathri so that they could see the enchanting and mesmerizing beauties of these new tourist destinations and act as brand ambassadors of Kashmir Tourism on their return home. This was stated by the Minister for Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir here today while interacting with the visiting group of Travel Trade, print and electronic media from West Bengal. Secretary Tourism Mr. Nayeem Akther, Director Tourism, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Ex-Director General, Tourism, Mr. Saleem Beig, prominent Tour and Travel Operator, Mr. Nazir Bakhsi. President House Boat Owners Association, President Hotel and Restaurant Association of the valley were present on the occasion. The Minister said Government, has embarked upon an ambitious programme to upgrade existing tourism infrastructure at various tourist destinations of the State for the convenience of the tourists. He said a scheme is also on anvil to upgrade and improve the condition of House Boats to provide deluxe accommodation to the tourists. He said new tourist destinations, which were hitherto unknown are being exploited to provide varied attractions to the tourists. He called upon the visiting members of the Travel Trade of West Bengal to project the improving situation of Kashmir in positive aspect adding that after assessing the situation, they should motivate fellow countrymen to visit the paradise on earth. He said Jammu and Kashmir has long trade and tourist ties with West Bengal which need to be revived for the overall betterment of the twin States. The Minister hoped that the visit and interaction of the visiting West Bengal Travel group with local people would pay rich dividends and go a long way in boosting tourism in the state
