| Natrang presents ‘Holi’ on Fest-Day-8 | | |

Hindi play ‘Holi’ was staged on the day 8 of Natrang’s silver jubilee theatre festival. Written by Mahesh Eikunchwar in Marathi, the play was directed by Balwant Thakur. Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Sunita Gupta, Chairperson, Heritage School was the Guest of honor. The show was sponsored by Take-1 TV ‘Holi’ is a satirical tragedy set at a college hostel canteen where all the sequence takes place. Principal of the college declares ‘Holi’ as a day of no holiday and arranges a compulsory lecture on culture to which he invites students’ protest. The disgruntled students give vent to their anger on the guest speaker who is ridiculed and forced to flee. The college administration reacts to it by detaining certain boys and expelling one of the students who is an orphan. At first none comes forward to tell the names of the guilty. Anand names all except Shrivastava, with whom he has enigmatic relations. However the matter leaks out through Shrivastava, which prove the undoing of Anand. All boys including Shrivastava vomiting fire and brimstone with anger pounce upon poor Anand and beat. Ultimately boys decide to dress him up a woman and lock him in a room. The tortured boy unable to bear this insult hangs himself to death. The denouncement comes when Shrivastava reveals that Anand has committed suicide in the locked room. The whole rowdy lot repents their foolishness and this shocks them. They cry in shock but all in vain. Cast of the play who presented a vibrant performance include Pawan Verma, Pankaj Sharma, Anil Tickoo, Gaurav Jamwal, Sanjeev Gupta, Sumeet Sharma, Deepak Virdhi, Rahul Singh, Dimple Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Rakesh Gupta, Sahil Arora, Suresh Kumar, Neeraj Kant, Vijay Bhatt, Anjali Abrol, Shivali Abrol, Abkush Lakhnotra, Salil Mahajan, Parveen Kumarm, Sat Salarbi, Rohit Verma, Mohd. Yaseen, Mayank Bakshi, Vijay Koul, Hemant Bhola, Pankush Verma and Kamaljeet Kaur. Lights were operated by Suraj Ganjoo and Jai Ram. Sound effected by Lokesh Chander. Properties were arranged by Mohit Sharma and Pawan Verma. Public relations were looked after by Sumeet Sharma. Hall Management was looked after by Sartaj Singh and Aman Gupta. At the end of the play 40 artists were honoured by Heritage School through Prof. Amitabh Mattoo who termed the play as outstanding. Devinder Rana, MD Take One Television was presented memento on the occasion and this was received by Fahim Tak on his behalf.
