Travel in his auto-rickshaw and pray for his son
The fare Iqbal charges from passengers is blessings for his ailing son

Rajouri, July 26
Mohd Iqbal, father of five children, is a three-wheeler driver. He does not charge any fare from the passengers, who board his auto. Instead he requests his passengers to bless his son, Shahid Iqbal, so that he survives major heart ailment. A slogan pasted on the back of his three-wheeler reads Shahib Iqbal key liye Dua Maango”(pray for my son).
The father has pawned his land in ancestral Thana Mandi area and got Rs.20,000 after he promised the man that in case he was unable to return the money he would transfer the land in his name. The need for collecting money arose when his son was detected to carry a hole in his heart and two arteries having got blocked.
According to Mohd Iqbal his son would fall down while running and he took his son to a doctor in Rajouri where he referred the case to Jammu Medical college.The college doctors examined him and found Shaid Iqbal,four years of age,suffering from serious heart problem requiring immediate surgery.The auto Union Drivers Association collected another Rs.20,000 for Iqbal,The father took his son to the AIIMS where also the doctors suggested immediate surgery failing which Shahid could not live for more than three months.
A news television telecast the story of Mohd.Iqbal.Nirmal Gupta head of the Department of cardio vascular surgery in Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow got in touch with the television channel bosses and conveyed to them that he would carry out surgery on Shahib without charging any money.
Mohd.Iqbal is all smiles and says “passengers prayers have helped me.”He says that his life has been always miserable while recalling how his father Hassan Mohd. Was gunned down by militants several years ago.He says “we belonged to Thanamandi area of Rajouri.When my father was killed by militants on charge of being an informer we migrated to Rajouri town.
He says “my father was not an informer. He would supply milk to the Army and militants thought that his daily visit to an Army camp was meant to inform them about rebel hideouts.”
