| Birth Anniversary of Pt Nehru celebrated | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 14 : Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in a function held at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarter Shaheedi Chowk Jammu to celebrate his 126th Birth Anniversary.
The function was presided over by Senior Vice President PCC Sham Lal Sharma (former Minister), while prominent leaders who paid tributes included Jahangir Mir-Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, GN Monga-Vice President PCC; Ravinder Sharma-Chief Spokesman; Rajnesh Sharma-Co-Treasurer; Shabir Ahmed Khan, Manjit Singh, SS Channi, Manmohan Singh, Vikram Malhotra (General Secretaries), Iqbal Malik, former minister Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Kuldip Raj Verma; President DCC Jammu (Urban) Anil Chopra & Shashi Sharma. While paying tributes, Sham Lal Sharma described Pt. Nehru as a great visionary and architect who laid the foundation of Modern India. He said that the building of a democratic, social and political system was his principal objectives. For him political democracy was a means of solving social problems. He laid the foundation of Panchayati Raj and Community development programmes because he believed that first objective of the state was social welfare and empowerment of the people. Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Jahangir Mir in his address described Pt. Nehru as the architect of Modern India who laid the foundation of a strong nation based on secularism & equality. He impressed upon the need to inculcate & propagate the policies and principles of Pt. Nehru. Members of NGO Jiyo aur jeene do celebrated the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India i.e; Jawahar lal Nehru in Tilak Nagar in which a large number of people gathered and offered their floral homage to the great leader of nation. The President of NGO Tariq Shah while speaking on the ocassion said , '' Today we have gathered here to pay our respect to the great son of soil. India is a secular , tolerant and a democratic nation. We can accelerate our progress by following these principles. Nehru ji 's teachings are of great significance even now. RS Pura Congress leaders today organized a memorial function at its party Office to remember former Prime Minister late Jawahar Lal Nehru and paid rich floral homage to the late leader on his 126th birth anniversary.
Congress Secretary Pawan Raina was the chief guest of the occasion which was largely attended by the party activists and locals. Paying homage to the late leader, Pawan Raina described Jawahar Lal Nehru as a great visionary of the country who changed the fate of India. He also highlighted contribution of Pt Nehru in the freedom struggle and his remarkable achievements as a first Prime Minister of free India. He further exhorted the partymen and people to follow the footsteps of Nehru to maintain communal harmony in the country and state as well.
Prominent among others who also attended the meeting and paid rich tributes to Late Jawahar Lal Nehru are Gurmeet singh, Panch Hari Chand, Lajwanti, Mool raj, Nishu Sharma also present.
Earlier, Pawan Raina along with party leaders and workers garlanded the portrait of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and offered rich floral tributes to their leader. |
