| SAC recommends termination of two ‘corrupt’ engineers | | | Jammu,July 26 :- The state Accountability commission has recommended termination of the services of D.K.Razdan,Asstt Executive Engineer,and Virender Kumar,Junion engineer PWD(R & B) subdivision Batote on the charge of having indulged in corrupt practices. Giving a verdict on a complaint filed by one contractor,Ghulam Mohd.Sheikh through his lawyer,Vinod Kotwal,the Commission said that the allegations of corruption against D.K.Razdan and virender Kumar had been proved and hence their services be terminated. The commission found offences against Razdan and Virender Kumar under section 2 sub-clause 7,9,10 of the J & Ka Accountability Commission Act 2002. In his complaint contractor Ghulam Mohd.Sheikh had alleged that the two engineers demanded a bribe of Rs.20,000 for releasing part payment in his favour.The bribe money was paid by the contractor.In the complaint Sheikh had alleged that for the release of remaining payment of Rs. 3.22 lakhs the engneers demanded 20 per cent of the balance amount.When the contractor did not pay the bribe money the balance amount of Rs.3.22 lakhs was refused to be released in favour of the Sheikh on the pretext that there was defect in the work executed by the contractor. On enquiry that the engineers had not recorded the defects in their register and the measurement books which was supposed to be maintained by the engineers.The Commission said that the engineers’ plea that the register and measurement book had been stolen by the contractor.Since the Commission found that the two engineers had not lodged any FIR their allegation was baseless and hence recommendation for the termination of their services has been sent to the Government.
