| 'There are no militants in Kashmir' | | Every Kashmiri is a mujahid, says Lashkar founder | |
B L KAK NEW DELHI, AUG. 11: On the eve of his birthday, Pakistan President, Gen. Parvez Musharraf, sought to satisfy angry government of India by putting under house arrest the dreaded jihadi and founder of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hafiz Mohammed Saeed. It is "a welcome development", was Indian government's reaction. Saeed figures in the list of wanted persons forwarded by India to Pakistan. It was well before the development taking place in Lahore on August 10 that Saeed had said in a media interview that the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) did not acccept the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. LoC, he vehemently demanded, must be finished. And his standpoint on Kashmir: "Kashmir should be a one unit. And it should be with Pakistan". Why with Pakistan? Let founder's reported reply: "Because its (Kashmir's) geographical location supports its union with Pakistan". And his pronouncement: "Kashmir and Pakistan are the same sides of one coin". As an opponent of the opening of the LoC, Saeed insisted that if the LoC was opened, more harm will be caused to Pakistan. How come? Saeed's reply: India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) will push into Pakistani side of the border trouble-makers and subversives. This kind of phenomenon will not be permitted. Some clerics are propagating that accepting foreign aid is unIslamic. What are Hafiz Saeed's thoughts on it? He was quoted as saying: "Accepting foreign aid is not unIslamic or against the Shariat. But we should not beg for it. We should not degrade ourselves. We have the resources to start from zero". When his atention was drawn to Gen. Musharraf having solicited help from Israsel for the earthquake victims of Pakistan and Pakistan ocupied Kashmir (PoK), the LeT founder stated: "We should not solicit help from Israel. It is the question of Muslim honour and self-respect. The Jews can never be our friends. This is stated by Allah. Instead of Israel, we should seek help from Muslim countries and we should depend on our people". =============================
