| Low footing in Ganderbal: NC identifies new | | constituencies for its heavy weights | | Srinagar, July 26: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has decided not to field any of its heavy weight including any one from father-son duo Abdullahs from Ganderbal after getting negative reports about the chances of party's victory from the constituency once considered as its bastion. Sources said that it was after the announcement by its Chief Patron Farooq Abdullah about striking a comeback in state politics, National Conference felt the need of identifying two safe constituencies for father and son Abdullahs keeping in view the debacle it faced during last Assembly elections by losing its ancestral chief Ministerial candidate constituency to PDP. Considered as NC bastion and constituency for Chief Ministerial candidate since the time of Sheikh Abdullah, the recent reports sought by the party to asses any improvement in its lost popularity has come as negative, reliable sources within the party disclosed. Sources said the party even used its influence in intelligence agencies to get the real picture, besides using its own sources, but it received same negative reports from all quarters. A sort of survey got conducted by the National conference reflected that people have great faith in coalition and its policies, particularly in the backdrop of conferring of district status to the area. Given the situation, National conference according to the sources have decided either to completely stay out from contesting the Ganderbal seat in the coming Assembly elections or to field less important candidate, sources said. Relying on the inputs coming from various quarters, the party decided to look for comparatively secure constituencies for the party president Omar Abdullah and party chief patron, Dr. Farooq, sources added After a hectic analysis, sources said that the party has finally selected Sonwar and Amirakadal constituencies for the two top party cadres, sources added.
