| Panthers Party optimistic on winning 30 Assembly seats in next election | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu, July 27 The Panthers Party has decided to intensify its mass contact programme as part of its strategy to extend its area of influence among the electorate in the Jammu region. According to the leader of the Panthers Party in the state legislature,Harsh Dev Singh,"we plan to strengthen the party's base not only in the constituencies that fall on the outskirts of the Jammu city but in Kathua,Poonch,Rajouri,Udhampur and Ramban districts." Harsh Dev Singh said today "our aim is to win between 25 to 30 seats in the Assembly in the next year's poll."Asked for the reason for his optimism on winning about 30 seats in the Assembly Harsh Dev Singh said "people have tried several parties. They have voted for the Congress, the PDP and the National Conference. And people have felt disillusioned with all of them and have started appreciating the Panthers Party's policies and its role in highlighting peoples' problems even while supporting the coalition Government or even being part of it." He said from tomorrow the party leaders would start the mass contact programme in Kathua district."I shall spend the whole day tomorrow touring various Assembly constituencies in Kathua district."He said this would be followed by mass contact programmes in Marh,Suchetgrah,R.S.Pora,Vijaypur,Domana Nagrota and Bishan constituencies. He claimed that "we have a fighting chance in Poonch and Rajouri districts,"adding that the Panthers Party has performed well in Udhampur and Ramban districts."We will carry this message from his Ramnagar constituency to other areas in the region." In reply to a question Harsh Dev Singh said that "our doors are open for forming an alliance with like-minded and secular organisations. We will, however, approach anyone. If some party is interested in forging some alliance or electoral understanding let it come forward and then we can take a decision.Till date we have decided to go alone and field party candidates in 45 constituencies in the state, including the Kashmir valley."(KIP)
