| BJP opposes reduction in troop strength | | Security related issues not need to be publicized: Khajuria | | Jammu July 27- BJP State President Ashok Khajuria has conveyed his party’s opposition to any move aimed at reducing the strength of Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir saying that the union Government should not discuss the security related matters in public and instead leave everything to the care of the army commanders.
While responding to the invitation extended to him for a meeting with the Union Defence Minister, BJP Chief in a communication addressed to Defence Minister A K Antony, who is on a visit of the State to personally assess the security scenario, said that BJP has all along believed that security related issues should not be publicized at the behest of any political party as such an approach is fraught with dangerous consequences.
Khajuria said that BJP is of the considered view that any move to lower the guard in Jammu and Kashmir would not only prove counter productive but would also help the subversives to accomplish their ulterior designs.
‘BJP would appreciate if you could abandon the idea of reducing the strength of security forces in the state and refashion the whole approach in the national interest and not take any steps that are detrimental the country’s sovereign interest and demoralize the army and security forces who are fighting against the subversives and making supreme sacrifices for the national cause’, Khajuria in his communication added,
