| Prosecute Geelani for asking non-local labourers to leave: VHP | | | Jammu, Jul 28 The state unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today demanded the arrest and prosecution of hardline separatist Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for asking all non-Kashmiri labourers in the Valley to leave within a week. Reacting to the call given by Geelani, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and the Bar Association of Kashmir asking all non-local labourers to leave the Valley within a week or face consequences, the president of the state unit of VHP Ramakant Dubey said, "this is a threat to the citizens of the country." Every citizen has a constitutional right to reside in any part of the country and pursue his rightful profession to earn his livelihood, he said, in a statement issued by the VHP. Dubey demanded the prosecution of Geelani under the National Security Act (NSA).
There are thousands of people from Jammu and Kashmir in various parts of the country and earning their livelihood, he said and added that nobody has threatened them to quit with bag and baggage. Such inflammatory statements from Hurriyat and other separatist elements can damage the secular fabric of the country. The VHP leader said that fundamentalists and separatists have forced the minorities, including the Pandits, to leave the Kashmir valley
