| DDC reviews watershed development schemes in Doda | | | DODA, AUGUST 11 -District Development Commissioner Doda Dr Pawan Kotwal convened a meeting of Technical Committee and Project Leaders associated with watershed programme in district Doda to review the batch wise achievement registered since the inception of the programme in the year 2000-01. In addition to this action plan for the current 46 watersheds of 11th batch, plantation of fruit trees under Horticulture sector in watershed areas verification report of the works done under the programme. Non-furnishing of the red-accounts by the project leaders submission of timely fund utilization certificates purchasing of adequate office infrastructures shortage of manpower in DPAP agency were also discussed in threadbare during the meeting. While reviewing the achievements registered in district since the start of watershed programme the meeting was informed that as many as 296 watersheds were sanctioned batch-wise out of which 236 watersheds were taken up and completed at a cost of Rs.663.7 lakh ending March 2006 against an outlay amounting to Rs.1287 lakh since 2001-02. Under 11th batch Rs.216 lakh have been earmarked for 48 watershed schemes in the Doda district the meeting was informed. The DDC after discussing the current action plan under the scheme approved same in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the DDC asked the officer, Sectoral and team leaders of watersheds to give major thrust of watershed to the remotest and neglected pockets of district and encompass more and more poor families under the programme. He directed the horticulture functionaries to prepare a comprehensive transport plan for transporting the fruit plants from various places well in time and ensure their distribution to the orchardists. In addition, sericulture, fisheries and mushrooms development also needs to be given top priority in the district. He also directed the Agriculture officers to organize awareness camps in all parts of district for creating new sets of progressive forming on scientific and modern methods among the farmers community of the district. The meeting was also attended by Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Deputy Director Sericulture, Chief Planning Officer Doda and field functionaries of Agriculture Department. |
