Praja Parishad assails silence by government on mass exodus of non-local labourers from valley
>>’Geelanis, Ansaris, Maliks, Fridis, Bhukharies and Afridies are also outsiders’
7/28/2007 11:10:40 PM
Jammu, July 28
Praja Parishad has vehemently assailed the silence and inaction on the part of the Congress-PDP government on mass exodus of non-local labourers and workers from the valley, in panic reaction to Ali Shah Geelani’s and other terrorists’ call for leaving the valley.
In a statement issued here today, state president, Praja Parishad, Chander Mohan Sharma said, ‘The separatists’ call intimidating the non-local workers to leave smacks of communal overtones and proves that the entire Kashmir turmoil is offshoot of worst communalism. Such calls and reactions have inherent potential of wider repercussions in the rest of India where so many Kashmiris go for business, interaction and studies. He said the criminal acts of individuals couldn’t be attributed to whole of the community and social groups. The heinous crime of four where even two locals were involved cannot be treated discriminately.”
Sharma questioned Mufties, Abdullas and Azad for their honest reaction on the issue as they were the people who were day in and day out used to raise the bogey of maltreatment and harassment of Kashmiris in other states.
The statement said, the state couldn’t be a mute spectator to the situation and it shows its implied consent to such exodus as police is also reportedly involved in coercing the non-locals to leave the valley.
He demanded immediate action by the government to address the fear among the non-locals and ensure their safety of life and limb.
Chander Mohan Sharma amused that those who themselves are outsiders firing shots on the non-locals. He said that even Geelanis, Ansaris, Maliks, Fridis, Bhukharies and Afridies and so on are outsiders not only settled in Kashmir but they have taken over their leadership and has been misleading the Kashmiris to their present miserable plight since they failed to imbibe Kashmiri ethos and culture
