| Unemployed youth protest against Army in Rajouri | | Traffic movement disrupted hours, stones pelted on vehicles | | Shafiq Mir Rajouri, July 30 Thousands of unemployed youth of Rajouri and Poonch border region came to the streets on Monday morning when they were not allowed by the Army authorities in ALG ground Rajouri where the Army had organized an on the spot recruitment event for the un- employed youth. Raising anti-army slogans, the unemployed youth staged dharna in Gujjar Mandi chowk and disrupted traffic movement for hours together. During their protest, the agitating youth also pelted stones on some of the civil and army vehicles passing through the area. However, the situation was controlled only after police came to action using a little force to disperse the protesters. The protesting youth assembled again within 15 minutes and marched towards DC office Rajouri , however, they were not allowed to enter the DC office premises by a strong contingent of police personnel already deployed at the sensitive installations . This drama continued till late afternoon. The protesting youth alleged that they have been deceived by the army authorities as it had not fixed any criteria in its notice for recruitment. “At the eleventh hour when we entered the ground for measurement the army authorities told us that only 10th pass candidates will be measured. In this way the army has deceived us”, said one of the aggrieved candidate Gurmit Singh of Nowshehra . However, army authorities denied the allegation saying that they had already informed them that only matriculate candidates will be allowed to sit in the test. But sources said that as per the earlier information circulated by the army authorities through the concerned units deployed in different areas there was no mention of any criteria. A senior army officer wishing not to be named said that the shot listing criteria was adopted by the recruitment board on the spot when they saw the huge rush of the unemployed youth gathered for the recruitment
