| Gandhi Nagar police solved many theft cases | | | Jammu | July 30
Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have busted a gang of burglars with the arrest of three persons alleged to be involved in various theft cases for the past quite some time. Police also claimed to have recovered huge quantity of stolen goods from their possession. Giving details to the media, SSP Jammu Parminder Singh and SP South (City) Zahid Manhas informed that the police had earlier nabbed one among the three and based on disclosure made by him, the police was later able to nab two of his associates. The police officers informed that during the intervening night of July 26 and 27, a special police party headed by inspector Mohammad Rafiq, SHO of Gandhi Nagar was deployed on patrolling. During patrolling at about 2.30 am, when police party was at Nai Basti, near cremation ground, they noticed that shutter of a provision store was half opened and lights were on. The police party looked inside the store and found that three persons were inside the shop. When policemen raised their query as to who were they and what where they doing in the late hours, the trio launched assault on the police team. One of them was, however, apprehended by the police, while two others managed to escape. The police officials further informed the media that the apprehended person disclosed his name as Pawan Kumar Deepa son of Ashok Kumar resident of Bhour Camp. He also disclosed the names of his accomplices as Jasbir Singh Jassi son of Gurdeep Singh of Chatha and Inderdeep Singh of Bhour Camp. Referring to the recoveries made from them, the police said, two gunny bags containing some provisional items were seized from the spot. Jasbir Singh and Inderdeep Singh also committed a theft in SKAUST Chatha from where five computers and other items were stolen. These were also recovered from their possession.
