| Roop Nagar faces water scarcity | | | Jammu, 30 July Even as government is claiming to have provided basic essentials even in the far off villages of the state, still several colonies including Roop Nagar, Sharika Vihar, Durga Nagar of Jammu are facing acute water scarcity. In this context a delegation of Sharikavihar, Durga Nagar and other adjoining localities of Roop Nagar area approached the Chief Engineer and informed him about the hardships they are faced with but all in vain. The dwellers of these areas have made similar unsuccessful attempts earlier but nothing has come out as a result of which the shortage of potable water prevails. "Neither the department shows any interest in solving this problem nor are they relieving the residents by providing water through water tankers as a result we are compelled to reach our workplaces without a bath.", said an inhabitant Ashok Kumar of Roop Nagar. The dwellers of the area are complaining that water is supplied only twice or thrice a month and for rest of the days three or four neighbours jointly purchase water to meet the requirement. "We have no other alternative than to contribute for purchase of water tanker to relieve our families in such a scorching heat" says Arun Jamwal of Durga Nagar. R.L.Jawhar of Roop Nagar says, "Either the concerned authorities can relieve us from the trouble which is unlikely to happen or we could be relieved if we vacate the place which we cannot afford and in a given situation we have no alternative than to contribute for purchase of water tanker" "The younger ones can to some extent tolerate to remain without bath or can even go to his relatives for the purpose but what about the children and elderly people. Our children go to their schools without taking a bath"Said Manish of Sharika vihar.
