| Karra chairs officer meeting | | |
POONCH, JULY 30
Minister for Finance and Planning, Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra visited Poonch the other day and chaired a meeting of District and provincial officers to review various development works. The emphasis in the meeting was made towards the completion of ongoing road, irrigation, electric and PHE projects. Mr. Karra directed the officers to ensure the completion of ongoing works in the health as well as education sector also. Mr. Karra asked the officers to ensure the completion of ongoing works with in the stipulated time frame.
Mr. Karra inaugurated the V-Sat building at Takia Sharief-Bandi Chechiyan and inspected Mughal road up to Poshana about 28 kms from Bafliyaz and directed the officers to speed up the work in light of the clearance made by the Hon’ble Supreme Court for its completion. Mr. Karra had earlier hailed the decision of the Supreme Court regarding giving clearance to the construction of Mughal roads.
Mr. Karra in a public meeting at Rajouri referred to the developmental activities initiated by the coalition government in twin district of Poonch and Rajouri hoping that they will transform the socio-economic landscape of the region. The opening of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (Rajouri), Regional campus of Jammu University (Poonch) and connectivity with the valley through Mughal Road as well as boosting horticulture/tourism sector in the area are some steps in this direction. Further the road sector under PMGSY and NABARD will further accelerate development activities in the far flung regions of the twin districts, he said.
