| Van Mahautsva celebrated at Udhampur | | | UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 11 -The Forest Department Udhampur in collaboration with subsidiary training centre BSF Udhampur celebrated Van Mahautsva at BSF STC centre Udhampur today. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu Mr I. A Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. A large number of senior officers of Forest Department, Officers of BSF, Deputy Director Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, prominent citizens and school children attended the function. DFO Udhampur Mrs Roop Avtar Bhandari explained the importance of Van Mahautsva. She informed that about 2000 plants are being planted on the occasion by involving BSF jawans, local people and school children. The functions in Udhampur Forest Division are also being organized at various places simultaneously. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan emphasized on the importance of the plantation and environment conservation. He informed that due to various development and economic activities, forests are being cleared at an alarming rate and therefore, there is an urgent need for plantation of trees and maintaining ecological balance. He appealed to all, especially the school children to whole heartedly support the movement of the tree plantation for better and cleaner environment for the coming generation. Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu Mr Abhai Kumar also spoke and appreciated joint organization of Van Mahautsva by Divisional Forest Officer Udhampur and BSF. Later, Mr Khan reviewed the functioning of Udhampur Forest Division and Tikri Jangali Gali Project and interacted with the staff. He advised the staff to work with zeal and dedication for the betterment of the society. He also inspected Mand nursery of Udhampur Forest Division and gave directions to the staff on the spot. |
