7/31/2007 11:12:26 PM

Jammu July 31
After tightening the noose against the kerosene dealers involved in mafia in the city, the mafia has spread its tentacles in the rural areas. The mafia with the patronage of some departmental officers and politicians are running their trade in broad day light.
According to sources kerosene mafia with the help of some local dealers are doing black marketing of kerosene in the rural areas like Samba, Vijaypur and some others areas also.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the city police under the supervision of than SSP Jammu Mukesh Singh and IPS BS Tuti had raided many places and recovered kerosene oil and arrested several persons involved in the mafia and some officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Department. Since the department has taken up task to sell kerosene it self in the city and the mafia started moving towards the rural area where they have been doing good business.
Sources said kerosene mafia is currently going on in Vijaypur and its surrounding areas like Raya, Suchani, Bada Degote, Rajinderpura, Supwal and some others villages of Samba and Border areas. Mafia with the help of police sells their full quota to the transporters who use it as fuel in place of diesel. If sources are to be believed some police persons are also helping them to run this illicit trade. Sources said that dealers in the area do not provide full quota to the people and sell it to the shopkeepers for black marketing the same. Sources informed that kerosene mafia is that much linked with dealers that they give the leaders two to three thousands rupees per month and use their licence for black marketing. Sources said though police is aware about this illicit trade yet it has not taken any action against the mafia. How dare that Mafia is that they use to fill the tanks of tucks and other vehicle like minibuses and others just few meters away from Vijaypur police station. Sources said that dealers get quota more than to their capacities which show that they have some links with departments also. According to sources, mafia has links with some politicians also who protect them and give every possible help to run this illicit trade.
