| Military Hospital gets state of the art CT scan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 31 Maj Gen Sanjeev Loomba, GOC Tiger Division inaugurated the latest 40 slice CT scanner by Siemens at 166 Military Hospital at Satwari here today. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his satisfaction at the level professional care being provided at the MH especially for the ex-servicemen. Admiring the positive changes brought out both in the infrastructure and professional aspect under the dynamic leadership of the present commandant, Brig Arvind Gupta, he added that giving the best possible care to the serving and retired defence personnel has always been his first priority and as the head of the Jammu station, he will spare no efforts in achieving this aim here also. He hoped that the new CT scanner, first of its kind in Jammu and adjoining region, will go a long way in improving the diagnostic skills of clinicians. Brig Arvind Gupta, Commandant, 166 MH praised the initiative taken by Lt Col Rajiv Kapoor, HOD Radiology in hastening up the process of setting up the CT scan centre. He said the CT scanner installed at 166 Military Hospital a 40 slice machine of Siemens (Sensation 40) is capable of acquiring volumetric data which can later be interpolated to get desired sections. Besides routine scanning, it is capable of coronary and whole body angiography (visualizing the heart blood vessels and other vessels of body) and virtual colonoscopy. The facility for such investigations, the first of its kind in Jammu, will prove to be a big help in enhancing the diagnostic skills of the clinicians and obviate the need of patients traveling to higher centers. Lt Col Rajiv Kapoor said that the diagnostic capabilities of this busy department already having modern equipment like Image intensifier, Ultrasound and Color Doppler will be further enhanced with the addition of this CT scan and very soon MRI which is in advanced state of procurement will be installed in the hospital.
