Jammu | July 31
Schools and colleges re-opened for the new academic session, here today. Eager to attend school after a fortnight-long break, students were looking enthusiastic.
Dressed in new uniforms and armed with new books, they looked forward to sitting in their new classes. It was also a day of cheery greetings for friends and classmates, new resolutions with regard to studies, and school campuses reverberated with laughter and came to life again.
Attendance in most schools and colleges were close to 100 per cent as students went about noting their time-tables and getting back to study mode in their new classes. New teachers greeted students and they went through the introductory rounds, meeting their various subject teachers.
After a month-long summer vacation, all government and most of the private schools in the city reopened today. There was a mixed response from students as well as teachers. With a bright look on their faces, students seemed eager to meet their classmates. Aditi Gupta, a student of Class XI, remarked, “It was really nice to come back to school, I really missed my friends.”
Neha, the student of Govt.Women College Parade said that on the first day she spent her maximum time in gossips with friend’s inspite of studies. She also said that she had made many new friends on the first day also.
Some of the teachers disclosed that it was refreshing as well as tiring. Students were also in a jolly mood and shared their holiday experiences. Rajni and Sonia, teachers said they checked the homework. It was nice to be back to the routine.”
Sonika, student XII Govt. Girls Higher Secondary school was however, not very happy. “Holidays should not end so soon. It was fun to have late-night chatting with friends and to wake up late. Now, the same old routine is going to be quite boring,” she said.
But there were some students who complained that they got so much of holiday homework that they hardly found time to enjoy their vacations
