| Peerzada's fate hangs in balance | | Congress to implement one-man-one-post system | | ET REPORTER Jammu, July 31 The fate of School Education Minister and President of Pradesh Congress Committee Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has come to hang in balance following an aggressive approach of the Congress high command to tone up the state units of party. Highly placed sources told EARLY TIMES that Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed may have to part of either the Minister in the cabinet or as Pradesh Congress Committee chief. A hectic process of consultations is on to arrive at final decision in following few days. "In view of the elections approaching fast, the party high command is of the opinion that there has to be a full time president of the state unit to gear up the organisation for challenges. Peerzada Sayeed being a minister of an important department is not expected to deliver either at the ministry or at party if he slowed to continue on both posts", said a reliable source who aware of the recent developments in the Congress party. When asked if there was party's displeasure with Peerzada, he said, "there is no such thing". The change is imminent in view of urgency and there is no displeasure against the PCC chief, the source pointed out. He said that the final decision will be worked out shortly. He said, the party high command recently did similar thing in Haryana we well. In Haryana the Education and Youth Affairs Minister Phool Chand Mullana was made to resign from the ministry and take over as full time organisational president. The source said that appointment of Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed is already in violation of the precedence of the Congress party according to which one person can head only one post. "The Panchmari resolution of the Congress had laid down clearly that one persons can not be made in-charge of two posts", said the source while pointing out that Peerzada Sayeed is heading an important ministry as well as the top most organisational post in the state. Sources further informed that if Peerzada is retained as Minister, then CAPD Minister Taj Mohiuddin and the Congress' senior vice president Abdul Ghani Vakil can emerge as hot favourites to head the top organisation post. "In case Taj is selected to head the PCC, he will have to resign as Minister", said the source while asserting that the Congress high command is serious in having a full time president in view of the forthcoming elections.
