| Poonch teachers' list on hold | | | Early Times REPORTER Jammu, July 31 With a high court stay on selection list of teachers for Poonch district, uncertainty is looming large over the fate of thousands of aspirants across the region. The selection list has been challenged in the criteria adopted by the selection board. It may be mentioned here that similar criteria has been adopted for the selection of teachers in all districts and there is possibility of these also being challenged. Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu wing in a petition challenging the selection of 188 teachers District Poonch, has issued notice to the state respondents and other private respondents. After hearing Advocate Surinder Singh appearing for the petitioners ordered that in the meantime operation of the selection list is stayed. This is subject to objections from other side. This stay order has been issued by the High Court in a petition filed by Kuldeep Kour and others challenging the selection list published in a newspaper on June 16, 2007 and seeking quashment of selection criteria adopted by service selection Board for selection of teachers by giving weightage to 10+2 qualification which does not advance the cause of teaching and the selection of respondents on the ground of 10+2 is violative of Article 14 and 16 of Constitution of India. In the petition filed through Adv Surinder Singh in which it has been submitted that the petitioners are highly qualified MA- B.Ed, BSc-B.Ed, MSc and MSc-B.Ed and they are more qualified as the respondents ignoring their merit and giving undue weightage to 10+2 qualification and seeking quashment of the selection criteria, Court stayed selection list of District Poonch.
