Tension in Billawar as MP abuse protesters
People were protesting against power cuts

Tension gripped Billawar area of Kathua district, last evening when a scuffle took place between Congress Member Parliament Lal Singh and local people who were protesting against unscheduled power cuts.
According to reports, public tampers ran high, when MP Lal Singh used abusive language against protesters who did not allow MP's motorcade to cross blocked road.
Irritated over the behavior of MP Lal Singh people started throwing shoes and sandles on the MP and a scuffle took place between them. The media persons covering the incident also came under the attack of MP who allegedly misbehaved with photojournalists and snatched the cameras.
The MP and his MLA wife Kanta Andotra had to cover all the distance on foot to reach PWD guest house at Billawar as protesters did not allow their cars to cross, sources told News Agency of Kashmir.
Annoyed over the use of abusive language by MP who refused to listen to their just demands, the protesters later burnt the effigy of MP and local MLA Manohar Lal Sharma.
According to reports reaching here, a bandh call was given by All Parties Joint Action Committee to protest against unscheduled power cuts.
The representatives of the Action Committee has reportedly sent telegrams to Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chaterjee, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Parliamentary affairs Minister Priyaranjan Das Minshi to complaint them about the behavior of the MP while demanding stern action against him.
When State Congress President Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed was contacted for his reaction to the incident, he said he will comment about the incident only after talking to the MP.
The Members of the Action Committee who had given the bandh call include NC block President Romy Khajuria, BJP district Vice President Satish Sharma, Panthers Party District President Raghubir Singh Baloria, Pankaj Dogra of Congress, President of Municipal Committee Charan Dass Gupta, Anil Verma of Shiv Sena Sandeep Khajuria of Bajrang Dal, Advocate Jatinder Singh Padwal of Duggar Karanti Sabha, Corporator Badri Nath and Sumit Verma of Shiv Sena.
Meanwhile, reacting to the attitude of MP, leaders of the action committee said that it is the public who elected him and sent him to Parliament to advocate the welfare measures of people, but it is regrettable that the same leaders threaten and abuse the public to suppress their voice.
