8/1/2007 11:51:20 PM

Jammu | Aug 1
In a dramatic style a brave woman of the city nabbed a ‘notorious thief’ identified as Rakesh Kumar from a restaurant who had stolen two cell phones and cash from a house in Ustad Mohalla and also recovered stolen items from his possession.
According to sources, some days back a thief stole two cell phones and Rs.1500 in cash from a rental house of two final year MBBS students in Ustad Mohalla when no one was present in the house. When the students returned they saw the mobile phones and cash missing from the house. They immediately brought this matter to the notice of their neighbour namely Bano and also informed police.
After receiving information the police registered a case and started investigations. However, before the police could lay its hand on the thief the brave woman in a dramatic way arrested the thief.
Sources said that soon after the students informed the woman about the theft of their cell phones and cash, she made a call on one of the stolen mobile phones and talked with the thief continuously for three successive days to trap him in flirt. After developing close intimacy the woman called the thief for a meeting and accordingly set a date, time and venue. When he came to meet her in a restaurant the woman alone nabbed the thief and took him to police station for further interrogation. Sources said during interrogation the alleged accused is reported to have confessed his crime and also told police that he was involved in many thefts within and outside the city. He is also reported to have told to police about his gang which was active in the city for last many years and Police after receiving several inputs raided many places in the city. On the disclosure of the accused a team was also sent to Jallandhar for conducting raids.
The sources said that the interrogation of the accused is continuing and some more arrests are likely to be made on his disclosure
