| Politicians want Parminder as full-fledged SSP | | |

Political bigwigs are putting pressure on top police officials to retain Parminder Singh who is officiating as senior superintendent of police Jammu on the post.
Parminder, who was asked to handle the charge of SSP when the incumbent in office Mukesh Singh proceeded on a long leave, enjoys good rapport in political circle and is believed to be an honest officer.
However, the pressure some political leaders are building on the police department, is a part of the commitment made by them to the officer when Parminder did not join the office of SSP. It was then that some leaders had persuaded him to join the duty and they will ensure that he gets the post as regular incumbent.
According to the sources, these leaders are now clandestinely building pressure on top brass in police to order his posting as SSP as permanent.
Sources believe that working under pressure, the government may announce Parminder as SSP Jammu after Independence Day.
Even as there are various other senior officers in fray for the post, the balance appears to be tilting in favour of Parminder owing to his reputation and also pressure from the political circle.
Sources disclosed that two cabinet ministers, one MLC and few MLAs are trying hard that Parminder is made full-fledged SSP and to ensure this they had even called on Director General of Police a couple of days back.
