DGP cautions against damages to civilians
Appreciates role of police in combating militancy

Srinagar, August 1
Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khuda today appreciated the part being played by J&K police in fighting militancy all across the state and cautioned the cops against collateral damages with specific references to human rights.
Addressing the 'Darbar' of the Police officers at Baramulla, Handwara and Kupwara, during his visit to Border districts of North Kashmir DGP stressed upon the cops to maintain same unflinching attitude in bringing the state back on the tracks of peace.
Appreciating the role of J&K Police in bringing up efficient Policing and maintaining peace, Law and order, he said the proficient policing can play a phenomenal role in building up a peaceful atmosphere across the state.
He made specific references to Anti-militant operations being carried by the officers and men of the J&K Police who had brought success.
DGP impressed upon Police to adopt people friendly Policing to ensure that civilian population does not feel alienated. He appreciated co-ordination among all the forces in the three Border districts
Khuda extorted upon men to continue the good work in bringing peace in the region. However, he had a word of caution to officers and men on the issues relating to collateral damages during the operation with specific reference to Human Rights. He impressed upon them to exercise utmost restrain to ensure that the civil population and their property is protected.

The DGP also sanctioned cash reward and incentives to the men particularly to those who took part in Anti-militancy operations. He also sanctioned grants for holding the social gatherings like "Bada-Khana" etc in all the Police stations in these three districts. He also listened to the grievances projected in the darbar and instructed the officers to take immediate follow up action.

He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police S.M.Sahai . Besides DIG North Kashmir Range, the respective SSP's and other Senior officers were present at the three Darbars held at Baramulla, Handwara and Kupwara.. border districts of Baramulla, Handwara and Kupwara, after assuming the charge as DGP J&K.
