| Private School teachers demand uniformity in wages | | | Early Times Reporter Kishtwar Aug 2 The teachers working in various private schools of district Kishtwar have alleged that the present coalition government headed by G.N. Azad has no effective policies to protect the private school teachers of the state of exploitation at the hands of management/owners of these schools. Though the Chief Minister has been very sympathetic towards the demands of the government employees working in different departments and has redressed their various grievances but unfortunately he is not serious towards the burning problems of the private school teachers, they alleged. These teachers said that no criteria existed for fixation of pay and other facilities to the private teachers and in most of the cases they are paid as per the wishes and whims of the school management. There are great numbers of graduates/ pos-graduates teachers who are receiving monthly salary as Rs 800 to1200 which is nothing when compared to their counterparts in government schools These teachers have demanded that the Government. should fix the monthly salary of these private schools in accordance with their qualifications with a minimum salary of Rs.2100 per month as is being paid to the causal labourers under the Minimum Wages Act.
