| BSP alleges misuse of SC/ST reservation quota | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | AUGUST 11 Krishan Basotra, the State General Secretary, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) flayed the State Government for undermining the interests of Backward Classes and SC/ST in the state. He has condemned the state’s inability to implement Mandal Commission in the Jammu &Kashmir. According t press release while addressing BSP workers meeting here today Basotra along with B.K Manhas, L.K Charak, Om Prakash Magotra and S.K Sumbria said that 27 percent reservation quota in the state, is being fretted way in the name of RBA and ALOC, which we do not oppose as benefit of given to nay other social groups. But we strongly resent state government/s bit to dilute the reservation benefits exclusively meant for backward classes under Mandal Commission, he added. Basotra said that it was a pity that above 50 percent population of Jammu & Kashmir state comprised of Backward Classes and have been always treated as bonded labour and second-class citizens. He recalled that it was only Dr. Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram that national movement mainly for the interests of SC/ST and backward classes was generated. The movement is now in the strong hands of Kumari Maya Wati. He said that all political parties have always extorted SC/ST and backward classes. He said that not only backward classes, but also even the people of the upper caste now realize that great injustice has been done to backward classes. He appealed the upper castes to abandon Manuvaad and join the ranks and file of Bahujan Samaj Party, which will form the government in the state in next pools and will give clean administration to its people.
